Continuing with the garden theme, got another lovely surprise today, my fig trees actually have little fig buds on them! I don’t know if they’ll actually become “proper” figs with the Irish weather but I’ll keep you updated. Figs and parma ham with rocket salad anyone? Tasted the rocket today and it is sooooo good, full of flavour and really peppery. Next week I’m off to buy some vegetables so there will be more pics………sorry:) Food posts to resume shortly, red pesto next on the menu, anyone interested?

ciao xx
I watched my figs last year swell with promise, then drop off at the end of the summer, as hard as concrete. The little buds have come back and I’m feeling good about this year!
red pesto! i am intrigued. capsicum? sun dried tomatoes? guess i will have to wait and see!
Gorgeous! Beautiful photos. And yup, I’m in for the pesto too xx
mmmmmmmmmm pesto!! and figs even better, I’ll bring the rocket and the cheese!
Red pesto, count me in …
I have a feeling they’re decorative rather than edible.
They don’t look anything like the figs around here, which grow singly and don’t have long stalks. You can have a look here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fig
Now red pesto you say….
Cathy
You lucky thing you, I’d love to grow figs.
Your plant isn’t a fig – sorry! It’s a Fatsia Japonica and I don’t think the berries are edible.
Just stumbled on your blog whilst looking for a courgette recipe. Love the photography!
thanks Jo & Cathy, thought so!! they’re very pretty though, I love the colours!
Yes – those fatsias are lovely plants! Perhaps you should get yourself a fig too – I like the sound of figs and parma ham.
We live in Cornwall in England and have just bought a fig plant in the hopes of enjoying such delicious fare in years to come (not sure how many years though!)
jo – send some over to me:)
Will do – as soon as we get some
